The anti-corruption authorities of Ukraine and law enforcement agencies of Poland conducted searches in the countries as part of the case of possible overpriced arms procurement in April 2022 - February 2023. This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the NABU press service.

"On 9 April 2024, searches were conducted on the territory of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland as part of the case of possible procurement of weapons at inflated prices in April 2022 - February 2023. This was made possible through the cooperation of the NABU and the SAPO with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Department for Combating Criminal Terror and Murder of the Capital Police Department of the Republic of Poland within the framework of the international legal assistance mechanism," the statement said.

It is noted that the investigative actions are aimed at investigating the supply chain of foreign weapons and verifying information about possible artificial overstatement of their value through the participation of intermediary companies registered outside Ukraine.

The investigation is ongoing and the evidence collected will be used by NABU detectives to provide a legal assessment of the officials' actions.

"The current leadership of the Ministry of Defence is actively assisting the National Bureau in the investigation of criminal proceedings," the Bureau concluded.

Earlier it was reported that the special importer "Progress" supplied the Ministry of Defence with shells purchased from the Polish company Alfa at prices that were 57% too high. The losses could reach $1bn.
